General 12-bit ADC family aims to cut cost of wideband LTE

Texas Instruments has recently introduced a family of 12-bit, 500Msample/s to 900Msample/s analogue-to-digital converters (ADCs) designed in a small 12x12mm footprint.
Its specification means it can be used as a lower cost and smaller ADC for wideband LTE and LTE-advanced power amplifier linearization, which previously required more expensive and power-hungry feedback ADCs for speeds greater than 500Msampel/s.
The ADS5409 family includes six 1- and 2-channel ADCs at a variety of speed grades and price points to meet system needs.
Key features and benefits of the ADS5409 family include an optional 2x decimation filter to simplify analogue filter requirements and reduce the data interface and a complementary ADC, the 12-bit ADS54T02 series includes three 1- and 2-channel, 500Msample/s to 750Msample/s dual-mode feedback and receiver ICs for time division duplex (TDD) base stations. The devices are pin-compatible with the ADS5409 family.
